About Me:
This is my 17th year as a teacher in the Hesperia District. This is my13th year at Topaz, where I've taught grades 3-5.

The only way that your child will improve as a reader, is to read more. Additionally, he must be reading a book that fits his current independent reading level. Therefore, monitoring the type and level of books is very important.

Every fifth grader must read no less than 30 minutes per night on all school nights. He/she must also complete a reading log, and some type of writing assignment, which is due on Friday of the week it is assigned.

Homework Policy
We are currently working on a water unit. The unit will be examined in all subject areas, particularly in science in and reading. We will read articles explaining why water is so important to all living things, and we will examine the water cycle. We will be reading the novel, A Long Walk to Water. Finally, we will also have two guest speakers exploring the subject with the students
